Nepenthes ovata X spectabilis is a naturally occurring hybrid from Borneo Exotics. It seems that Borneo Exotics is releasing more naturally occurring hybrids as of late. I believe this plant is from tissue culture and not a seed grown first offering. Sometimes Borneo will release new species or hybrids as seed grown plants to collectors and later release the tissue culture plants. I just got this hybrid and it was a size 3 and went directly outdoors. It will take a month or so for the plant to settle in and get used to outdoor conditions. Since both parent species are easy growing highlanders, I don't expect any problems with this one. I will say that for a first offering that these plants were a little larger than others. So maybe this hybrid is more vigorous than other highland hybrids.
