Nepenthes Kohala is a hybrid by the Leilani Hapu'u Nursery in Hawaii. The nursery is beginning to put out their own hybrids that are very interesting. This particular hybrid arrived as a large size 3 with multiple pitchers. Leilani is releasing great quality plants that are rivaling Exotica Plants! This hybrid isn't producing full adult pitchers yet in my opinion. I think as the pitchers get larger the peristome should get quite intricate. The hybrid N. fusca X veitchii is a great hybrid and should create a nice peristome on this plant. The pitcher itself has a big N. maxima influence. I'll grow this as a highlander outdoors year 'round and should have no problems. Both N. fusca and N. veitchii can take warmer temperatures for highlanders so N. Kohala should acclimate to a wide variety of environments. I haven't seen many photos of N. Kona to be able to describe variations within this hybrid. I have a few clones and they look fairly similar to each other at this point. As more plants are released and grown out, variations should become more evident.
